Lycan

A welter of people moves toward us, guns and clubs in the air. My parents, panicking at first, are regaining their bearings.  "Lycan you have to run." "B..but mom why aren't you coming? " "Right behind you dear" she gives me a reassuring smile And I takeoff. I run a considerable distance before checking if mom and dad are following me. But then I freeze in bewilderment.  Why aren't they running? And then I see the horrific sight. The throngs consuming them. Their clubs and bullets connecting. I sink to my knees. If they didn't run why should I? And I sit there, waiting for them to send me to my heavenly abode, the same way they did for my parents... "Lycan?" The gentle voice of the warden broke my train of thought. Then I remembered where I was. It had been a week since I left the hospital. But even that seems better than here.  A rehabilitation center. I instinctively reached towards my neck, where a golden chain hung. The only physi...

Jack woke up at the crack of dawn, all agog for the for the day ahead of him- it was his best friend’s birthday! He and Ian had been bosom buddies since kindergarten and they’re birthday bashes usually consisted of a sleepover- a day with no boundaries. They could play video games till midnight or gorge themselves with their favourite snacks! To sweeten the pot his birthday was on a weekend! Jack swiftly finished his ablutions and sauntered to Ian’s home with a skip in his step and a cake in his hand. He knocked on the door, expecting to see his friends beaming face to greet him. The moment the door swung open, he screamed “Surprise!”  But when he saw the face at the door his face reddened. There standing at the door was Ian’s mom, who looked rather startled.  “I’m sorry Mrs. Williams, I didn’t mean to frighten you.” She laughed and waved it off. She then asked what the matter was. What the matter was!? Jake thought this was one of Ian’s annoying pranks he told Mrs. Williams. ...

Friday The 13th

I loved horror.  Spooky ghosts, horrendous monsters, a bit of gore, and of course, the cheery good walking dead.  I used to devour R.L Stines’s deliciously chilling tales for breakfast.  But you only grasp the true gravity of such horrors, by experiencing them. Such is my tale… This incident occurred 2 years ago on the 13 th of October. I woke up at the crack of dawn all agog for what was in store for me on my 13th birthday.   I was especially ebullient on finally claiming the title of ‘teen’ instead of being called a child or a kid.   And to boost my exhilaration tenfold, it was a Friday, and my spook fanatic mind was exploding like a fire cracker. Friday the 13 th ! My mom and dad had given me everything that longed for, including a phone and the new Goosebumps © omnibus. However, I noticed my mom had a tight smile on her face.   It was apparent that she was hiding something. But before I could ask further, I was shipped off to school with my brand-ne...

Found You

Image
My heart was palpitating wildly, and my hands shook as I turned on the car’s ignition. I had been hiding in a ramshackle hotel on the outskirts of the city for some time. This morning, I noticed an envelope lying on the floor. Someone had slipped it from under the door. The note ominously read, ‘found you, see you soon.’ I broke in a cold sweat, hurriedly packed my few belongings and sat in my car, as my car’s engine purred to life, I heard a petrifying sound. I looked behind and saw… …A familiar face, clad in a three-piece suit and polished progues. His skin was tanned and didn’t bear a single wrinkle and he had a smile which flashed his even pearly whites. His smiling baby blues and tousled blond hair gave him an air of geniality. The only thing remotely odd about this man was gripped in his hand. A silenced, hand held desert eagle. “found you.” “you? -” But it was too late. With 1 flare of the pistol, the world went black. As quickly as the dark shrouded, light came...
